BALI hijacked by a Bra Company

Recently, a commercial on television about women underwear is really disturbing me. Even I feel that the ads has insulted my existence as a Balinese. The ads makes me feel that being Balinese is all about women and underwear such bras, panties and so on. The ads is coming from an underwear company (balicompany.com) called themselves BALI: Bali Bras, Panties and Shape wear. It has been broadcasting in some major tv channels such as FOX, ABC, MTV, Discovery and so on.
Well I am pretty sure that the company is inspired by the name of the island of Bali, a place where I am from. It is well known all over the world for its tourism and culture. It is also called Island of thousands temple, the last paradise and so on. Balinese people is a religious community. Using the name of Bali as an underwear brand is insulting. Underwear is something considered taboo and ‘dirty’ in Balinese society way of life.
If I am not mistaken, a geographical name can not be registered as a trade mark. So how the heck this company can use the name of BALI as a trade mark? Honestly how do you feel if somebody using your country name in inappropriate way?

f**k that company..! How dare they use Bali as a trademark. This is also our mistake, i mean the government of Bali, who should register BALI as a brand, no one allowed to use the name, except the government of Bali to promote the island.
On the other side, using Bali or anything related to Bali is a consequence as being a famous island. No wonder, Sri Lanka in 2004 was used to deliver “the new Bali” as their official brand to promote tourism.
to protect let say, this magistic-powerful icon, is depends on how smart and how hard the government and stakeholders work together. Need lots of efforts to accomplish this challenge.
yeah go to h*ll with that company. I guess the company is just trying to take full advantage of BALI name so it will be easier for them to get familiar in the market.

You ought to send in a strong reader’s comment to the leading Bali Newspaper and protest.
On second thoughts, what would happen if this Manufacturer decides to change his Product name to Brali because of overwhelming public protest?

Now about Bali as Merk (i don’t know how to call “merk” in english) that can be avoid if our government not to soft and respond quickly about this, since ads about this spread in international TV network like CNN, Fox etc, so why our government still didn’t take any action ? It’s so shame to use Bali name on bra or panties >.<
