When you are in Bali, traditional market is a must place to visit. Not only because it’s unique environment but it is a place where you can explore Balinese style of bargaining. Unlike supermarket, everything in traditional market has no fixed price. Try to bargain at least 30% lower than mentioned price by the vendors. Here are two main traditional markets in Bali:
1. Pasar Kumbasari: known also as Pasar Badung. It is the biggest traditional market in Bali which is open almost 24/7. It is located in the heart of Denpasar city, to be exact in Jalan Gajah Mada Denpasar. You can find almost anything here in this market including Balinese crafts, painting, clothings, foods and many many more.
2. Pasar Ubud: Located in the center of Ubud, approixmately 100 meters to the east of Ubud Main Hall (Bale Banjar).
Some tips when visiting Balinese traditional market:
1. Pay extra attention to your belongings such as camera, wallet etc. A traditional market in normally fully loaded with people including some jokers, thieft etc
2. Wear light clothings, short and T-Shirt/tank top will work just fine. Yes, it is very hot and no AC.
3. Do not forget to bring tissue/handkerchief or anything that you can use to cover you face/nose. Sometimes there is a very not friendly smell in the market.
4. Should you decide to buy anything: bargain, bargain and bargain.
